    “Forgotten” cookies (“pebbles”)

    Забравени сладки

Honestly, I had never heard of these FORGOTTEN COOKIES. I saw them in one of the Facebook culinary groups among the many cookies recipes prepared during the pre-Christmas cake fever. Then I wrote them down in the notebook ready for preparation after the New Year. Well, here they are! Beauty! Why are they called “forgotten”? You will find out when you start baking them. 😉 You put them in the oven, turn it off and forget about them. I could barely stand 4 hours not to open and check what was going on inside. After I published the recipe, I learned from the comments of many culinary fans that their…

Sweet dumplings with cottage cheese and cherries

Сладки кнедли с извара и череши

Honestly, I hadn’t heard of sweet dumplings. But as soon as I saw this version with the cherries, I couldn’t sleep until I prepared them. I got the idea from the culinary site https://www.homecookingadventure.com/ and prepared it with some changes that happened before and during the preparation of this recipe, i.e. for planned and unplanned reasons :). My suggestion is to use plain cottage cheese (not confectioners curd, as I did), reduce the flour and, if you like the sweet taste, increase the sugar to your taste. I invite you to experiment in the kitchen and surprise your close freinds and family with these SWEET DUMPLINGS WITH CHEESE AND CHERRIES.…

    Butter cookies with jam

    Масленки

The other day I felt like eating something sweet, and I grabbed from the store a box of butter cookies sprinkled with powdered sugar and filled with jam. I knew it wouldn’t be what I expected, but honestly, I wasn’t prepared for such a big disappointment. I tried one and here they are – the still stand in the box on the kitchen counter. And I did it myself. I used the idea for a recipe for “Quick cookies with jam” from the culinary youtube channel Moi Domashni Decepti. They became extremely tasty and reminded me so much of sweets from the time when I was a child. There is…

    Walnut buns of grandma Elenka

    Таралежки

These days I remembered cookies that my grandmother Elenka used to prepare (my mother’s mother from the village of Vardim, Svishtov region). She prepared them quickly, somehow by the way, and like any housewife at that time, all measures were approximate. Even the units in the recipe I wrote down in the old notebook were in yogurt jars 🙂 Obviously the ratio of the ingredients is what matters. With this quantity of ingredients you can make a lot of buns, so if you want you can try half a dose. An old and delicious recipe! Enjoy!

    Sweet snail cookies

    Завити сладки охлювчета

I saw this recipe a long time ago in one of the culinary groups on Facebook, published by Nela Raykova. Her cookies were very small (maybe about 3-4 cm as far as you can tell by the picture) and were twisted as an eight. What impressed me most was the zeal with which she has thinned every piece of dough for the length and thickness of a pretzel stick and swirled them in tiny, exquisite works of art. Well, I certainly have neither the time nor the patience for something like that, so I was a little careless in my own way! 😉 I just thinned the dough, rolled it…

Waffles by an old German recipe

    Гофрети по стара немска рецепта

It seems that waffles are people’s favorite sweet temptations… especially if one can combine it with chocolate, which is definitely a temptation number one ever!!! 🙂 This recipe I copied in my recipe notebook from a post by Dessy Ta in the Facebook group “I love to cook,” which covered in sufficient detail how the recipe was obtained. It stayed in my notebook for quite a long time, until it grabbed my attention again. Here it is, its time came now and all the waiting was really worth it. They are so tasty! And because my daughter decorated them, they are so extremely beautiful! Enjoy! 🙂

    Egyptian butter cookies (Ghribiyet Qsentena)

    Египетски масленки

About a month ago, my husband Theo was on a short business trip to Cairo, Egypt. As he was very busy with work, he couldn’t get his nose out and breathe Egyptian air (let alone see the pyramids). He managed to send me a picture of his breakfast plate at the hotel, which was not much like breakfast, but rather a bunch of sweet culinary temptations such as baklavas, cakes and other more unfamiliar calorie bombs. Of course, I made him to ask about the names and the recipe of these sweets. Instead, he returned with an English-language cookbook “Egyptian cooking”. Here is the first cooked recipe from it. In…

    Very chocolate scones

    Шоколадови скоунс

SCONES are something like small bread, cakes, muffins or sweets. Their origin is Irish, but some sources say they come from Scotland. The name comes from Danish and means “pure, fine white bread” and in Scottish it means “crush”. Maybe that’s why the pronounciation is different – “scOns” or “scOUns”. They are usually made from wheat flour, whole grain flour, or oatmeal, with baking powder (or baking soda), which are bakes on large flat trays. They can be sweet or salty and in some cases egg-washed before baking. Cheeses, fresh or frozen fruits can be added to them, and in modern kitchen fusion there are recipes with nuts (walnuts, almonds),…
