Quick cake with biscuits and apples from the old culinary notebooks

Бърз сладкиш с бисквити и ябълки

Hello, dear chefs! Today we will again have fun with a really easy cake, which was prepared a long time ago and I found in my old culinary notebook without any explanatory steps for preparation – only with the ingredients. It seems that most of the recipes were once only with the ingredients, because everyone knew how to prepare them and did not need much explanation. My favourite expressions “flour to medium soft dough” and “bake / bake in a moderate oven”. They were a complete mystery to me. Very often the flour was even missing in the products, because it implicips… 🙂 But there are no question how to…

    Cake with lemonade

    Кекс с лимонада

Good morning, chefs! For today we dug up again a recipe from the old culinary notebooks – CAKE WITH LEMONADE. Very fast (no mixer or separating whites and yolks) and so delicious! And instead of yellow lemonade you can use any other type of carbonated soft drink – so each time the result will be different. Let’s enjoy it! 🙂

Bulgarian polenta with bacon and cheese

    Качамак с пръжки и сирене

Good morning, chefs! Today I will show you a recipe that my husband prepared – POLENTA WITH BACON AND CHEESE. He is a big fan of polenta and often makes it at home, and I play the role of an assistant – from time to time I replace him in the stirring and carry out orders :). Here is our typical Bulgarian polenta – with a lot of butter and extras 🙂 Enjoy! Try it! 🙂

    Cocoa Topping Cake

    Сладкиш с какаова заливка

Very tasty and easy COCOA TOPPING CAKE. It is the taste of my mom’s pastries from a long time ago! Try it and enjoy it! I borrowed the recipe from Andreana Palicheva from the culinary Facebook group “Vkusotiki – www.boutiquedekristina.com” Here it is:

Oven Baked Sauerkraut with Rice and Potatoes

Кисело зеле с ориз и картофи на фурна

After yesterday’s trip to France with the wonderful home-made croissants, let’s return to our homeland and prepare something that originates from here, with sauerkraut – SOURKRAUT WITH RICE AND POTATOES. And despite the spring temperatures outside, let’s not forget that it’s still February. Here is how I prepared this delicious Bulgarian variation – the way my grandmother prepared it:

Crostata with jam (or Pastry with grated dough)

Today (Saturday) is a very good day to go back to the recipes from the old cookbooks. I remember this cake from my childhood, but I had completely forgotten it. I happened to see the recipe on Biggie’s culinary blog (“From Biggie’s Kitchen”) and immediately hurried to do it. The taste is just like the old times! 🙂 Here is the recipe: * The blog “From Biggie’s Kitchen” can be found at the following link: https://otkuhnqtanabigi.blogspot.com/. Biggie, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the recipe! 🙂

Cake with apples and quinces – a recipe from the old notebooks

    Сладкиш с ябълки и дюли

During my active culinary pursuits (I’d rather say active posting on my modest culinary site), I had the incredible pleasure of meeting many new wonderful and intelligent people. Some of them are in Bulgaria, most of them abroad. In addition to the comments beneath my recipes, an active exchange of new ones began. This is one of them – CAKE WITH APPLES AND QUINCES and it is from the old notebook with recipes of Dimitrina Boeva, my most enthusiastic supporter and critic, every day sharing new recipes and ideas. The cake is very tasty and easy and is extremely suitable for beginners. The greatest effort is in shredding the fruit.…

Mekitsi (fried dough buns) with lemonade, a recipe of grandma Elenka

    Мекици с лимонада

There is no way that I show you Grandma Elenka’s Walnut buns, Grandma Elenka’s Langidi, without showing you Grandma Elenka’s MEKITSI. These ones here are with lemonade and are super delicious! When I was preparing them, I cut the ingredients in half from her recipe, which I had copied in my notebook, and still I fried only one part, and with the remained dough and I made a bread. I wonder for whom she cooked so much that the ingredients in the recipes are like for a whole regiment. Well, it is no suprise, remembering how many children we used to gather in the summer in our village – cousins…

Langidi – quick breakfast, recipe from grandmother Elenka

    Лангиди

Good Saturday morning! Let’s have breakfast 🙂 Today I suggest you to prepare a quick and delicious breakfast. The recipe is from a long time ago, from my grandmother. The same grandmother Elenka from the village of Vardim, Svishtov region, who also made the Walnut buns that I showed you some time ago. Come on, roll up your sleeves and enjoy these LANGIDI. I still dodn’t understand where this name came from and why they were called that way. My personal explanation is that they look like small tongues and come from the word langue (French) or lingua (Latin). This is hardly true, but the important thing in this case is…
