Oven backed mackerel with tomatoes
Today I am giving you an idea for a fish recipe for the occasion of the coming Saint Nicholas Day. It is not the traditional stuffed carp, but it is traditionally Bulgarian and incredibly delicious. And fast;) I wish you a nice and happy holiday to everyone – both all the celebrating with these beautiful names and the people around who love them! 🙂

Beans with sausages
Beans with sausages – one more classic dish from the Bulgarian cuisine. It is inexplicable why, but this taste and flavour that is carried around the kitchen when beans are being cooked is an integral part of Bulgarian life and a sense of things and the world. True, it takes a long time to cook, but at the same time, every minute is worth it. And if you add, as in this case, a sausage or another nice meat with bones, everyone will “lick” their plates and you wouldn’t need to wash them 😉 Here, look how I did it this time, because you know – 10 cooks, 20 recipes.…

The fastest winter soup! And so much taste and color there are in these seemingly simple ingredients! The breath of the family hearth, the table with the three-legged small chairs, the dish simmering on the fire, simply home … Taste it and you won’t regret it! Cold tomato soup with leeks – even kids like it! Enjoy! 🙂

Fried meatballs
Fried meatballs – this is the Bulgarian classics. And in combination with those home made potato fries, it becomes a real savoury and everyone will love you! 🙂 In my opinion, there is no need for a recipe, but I just remembered the times when I myself needed a recipe for the meatballs, so have a look how I prepared them anyway. Have a nice and delicious day! 🙂

Wondering what to do about breakfast? And maybe even for lunch or dinner? Here’s an idea! I’ve been making this banitsa cheese pie for over 15 years. I saw its recipe on the internet when there weren’t so many culinary sites and famous cook-chefs. I was very impressed and decided it would be quite difficult for me to prepare it. But being really skillful ;), hop and I’ve done it – here’s your CHEESE PIE (BANITSA) IN A CAKE FORM. The taste is even better than the ordinary one, and as a bonus you have an exotic shape. Try to prepare it and you will see! Have a nice and…

Oven baked milk rice with curds
Today I am going to present to you a very interesting and infamous version of our Bulgarian milk rice. The difference is that eggs and curds are added to the rice and it is baked in the oven. The recipe is taken from an old (not so old, from 1974) cookbook “Our Kitchen” by Prof. Dr. Ivan Naydenov and Sonia Chortanova. This book has long been property of my mother, who gave it to me soon. Probably it seems obvious that I already cook more than her 🙂 The covers have fallen apart, the pages have turned yellow, and somewhere they are even stuck with the years of use and…

Oven baked meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese
Let’s go back to our national Bulgarian cuisine. Oven baked meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese. First, I was intrigued by the title (in Bulgarian) – an interesting combination of mince meat and dairy products. Extremely delicious! I saw this recipe from Ivan Zvezdev’s archive of Bulgarian recipes. I am glad that there are people who care about traditional Bulgarian dishes and that they are preserved, because they are part of our history and culture. Let’s join their efforts to preserve our identity! Have a nice and delicious day!

The easiest, most delicious and most Bulgarian main dish. Alone at home, I used the moment to spoil myself. Guvech is a traditional Bulgarian dish with various seasonal vegetables, meat by taste and traditional spices.
