    Easter bread

Come on, roll up our sleeves and make this EASTER BREAD! It is unexpectedly delicious and remains very soft even the next day. In addition, it is also a traditional part of the festive Easter table. This bread is served on the Easter table with the colored eggs on top. In many parts of the country, small dumplings with an egg in the middle are prepared from the same dough and given to children. I saw the recipe in an amazing book that takes us back to the cuisine of our ancestors. The book is by Penka Mihova “When the Soul Eats”. Happy Easter holidays! 🙂

Traditional Easter sweet bread (Kozunak) – the best I’ve ever made

    Козунак

There is a sea of recipes for Kozunak. I decided to share this one because it really is the best one I have ever made. With crunchy crust on top and soft and with “threads” on the inside. Sweet enough and super fragrant! And making it with the mixer dough attachments made things a lot easier. Thanks to pamscookingworld.blogspot.com for the recipe! You should try it, too! It is not difficult! Happy Easter holidays! 🙂

Mackerel with beans and pickled cucumbers (Ropotamo Mackerel)

    Скумрия "Ропотамо"

Today I would like to diversify a little the Easter menu with a very old and delicious recipe that I remember from my childhood – Ropotamo Mackerel. For our younger audience, I would like to explain that the recipe comes from canned mackerel, which was sold in shops, which contained tomato sauce and pickled cucumbers. I’m not sure about the beans … I may be burdened by the taste of childhood, but I have a feeling that everything was tastier then. Probably because I was a kid … So I’m glad Tanya Kiryazova reminded me of this recipe and shared it on her site mytasted.blogspot.com. Thank you very much, Tanya!…

Dobrudzha region whole grain rich bread with lard and leeks

Добруджански пълнозърнест тутманик с мас и праз лук

Happy National Holiday, Bulgarians! With the most Bulgarian thing that can get out of the hands of a woman – bread! This time it is with lard, leeks and some whole grain flour! The recipe is a slight modification of the recipe for the Dobrudzha multigrain bread with lard and leeks from the new book by Manchev and Shishkov “Favorite from the Bulgarian native kitchen with Manchev and Shishkov”. Be proud and dignified Bulgarians! In the name of our children and grandchildren!

    Shaken kebap

    Друсан кебап

Quick and delicious recipe! Probably the fastest and most delicious! Which reminds me of home! SHAKEN KEBAP! It is true that it’s fasting period again, but I have long come to the conclusion that obeying church canons has nothing to do with honoring the Lord and living as a good person towards yourself and the others. So you’ll forgive me in advance! I remember this dish from my mom. It tasted really great. She took a big pot and fried the meat. And when she added onions, she closed the pan with a lid and shook the meat. Apparently that’s how the tastes are mixed better, I don’t know ……

Chicken stew with groats (or a variation of the Chicken Church Stew)

    Пилешка яхния с булгур

I had cooked groats only once before. It turned out fine and I bought a groats again from one of the small Arabian spice shops around the Women’s Market. And when one searches for the path to something, usually the thing alone finds a path to it. So my desire to break down the ordinary dishes and products we make and use on a daily basis has led me to this recipe from the special issue of “Ritual Dishes for Autumn Holidays” from Culinary Magazine. I saw the recipe for “Chicken Church Stew” (or more simply Chicken stew with groats). Here’s how I made it using this recipe. Enjoy! 🙂
